Guess who's getting married?

In a little under five days I'll be tying the knot with my honey of 8 years- Chris. I'll be dyeing yarn until 3 days before the wedding, and back at it once I get back from our honeymoon (4 nights at a B&B in the mountains), but if you place an order during the next week please be patient-- your order may be delayed a few days. I'll have my laptop with me and can be reached my email in case of an emergency, but might not be answering non-emergency emails during my honeymoon. Can you blame me? Anyway...

How does a hand dyer celebrate getting married? By dyeing a special colorway inspired by the beautiful Italian vineyard where shes having her wedding, of course! We are having both our ceremony and reception at a vineyard near our hometown in North Carolina. So I guess its not really an Italian vineyard, but the wine is in the Italian style and the Villa looks like Tuscany. The vineyard and the colorway are named Raffaldini- the name of the Italian family that owns the place. The colors you see when you visit the vineyard are the brick red of the terra cotta roof tiles, the creamy gold of the stucco walls and the green of the rolling hills of grape vines. Can't you taste the chianti already?

The best part about getting married (other than that whole soul mate, life partner bit) are all the great knitting opportunities. I have knit socks for my bridal party (no, they don't have to wear them during the JULY wedding, they are for them to enjoy during cooler weather!), crocheted lace edgings on handkerchiefs for our moms and grandmothers, knit wire & bead jewelry as thank you presents for nearly all the women who helped in anyway, and knit myself a shawl and stockings to go with my gown! When I had my bridal portrait done a few weeks ago we took a few shots showcasing my shawl and stockings. Want a sneak peak?
